The Computer Junction
I have been working with computers since 1987. I don't claim to know everything, but on what I don't know I have some fellow computer fans that can help too. In all that time I've had to spend days researching my computer problems. There wasn't anyone I could go to to get help. The computer geeks always talked over my head, the computer support techs always talked down to me, and by the time I got off the phone my battery was dead on my cell phone and I felt two inches tall. I wound up fixing my own problem myself. I'm just a computer enthusiast just like you. I work on the road doing fiber optic cable installs for various telephone companies. On the side I work on computers. One project I have going is my Gateway Media center Desktop upgrading and doing maintenance on it. I spend about $1000 a year on everything from books to Hardware. I started with a CPU fan and then a Geforce graphic card (8400 GS 256 MB PCIe )then found out I needed more power my factory 300w PSU isn't cutting it. *Now I'm looking at a X3 1kw power supply.
In this new age of data transfer and DSL speeds, the common ever day folks are getting left behind that's where I come in. I would like to help bridge that gap.
*I started to buy a 400w PSU but did some research on it. If I go with a bigger graphic card I would have to upgrade my PSU again. So I found it's better to have more power so if I was to upgrade then I have the power available. So I would suggest going for the most power you can afford so you have adequate power for any future upgrades.
